Good Balance Means Less Chance of Injury

By Teresa L. Iattoni, PT, MS, CLT, physical therapist, ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus

Running is different than walking in that it is a one legged activity.  Running can be described as a combination of single legged stances performed with a float period between alternating foot contact with the ground.  The longer the distance run, the larger/stronger muscles fatigue, which can lead to gait alterations and ultimately injury...  Click here for the complete article by Teresa, including balance tests and strengthening exercises.

Yoga Enhances Running ... a Blend of Opposites

By Teresa L. Iattoni, PT, MS, CLT, physical therapist, ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus

People who run usually have many goals, but one of the most important is to continue running for as long as physically possible.  Life-long running leads many individuals to search for fitness activities that enhance their overall running experience.  One activity that enhances running is yoga.
